John's Background Switcher is a seemingly simple tool for making your desktop come to life. How many times do you switch your PC (or laptop) on and think - blimey, that Windows desktop is boring. Or perhaps you spend a few minutes each day changing your desktop to something a little more interesting? With John's Background Switcher (or JBS) you can select many picture sources and have a forever changing background which will provide stimulation of your visual senses every time you switch the computer on.
The time interval of picture change can be configured to your requirement. Sources of pictures include your computer, Flickr, Facebook, and lots of other photograph sites, but the most useful image searches are performed at Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
Screenshot #1 shows some example picture sets made up from "Folders on your computer", "Flickr photos" and "Google image searches". Note that these sets are individually selectable (only Google image searches are selected in this example).
Screenshot #2 shows the 13 different picture sources that can be used to update your background.
Screenshot #3 shows an example desktop background with JBS calendar.
There are a multitude of configuration options for you to play with but the better news is that it's free (but you can donate if you wish). Moreover, the tool is very well supported. Finally, it is extremely reliable (NB. as tested on Windows Vista)
A very pleasing tool that does exactly what it says on the tin.
